2 Conn. ShopRites Add In-store Dietitians

ShopRite of Clinton and ShopRite of Norwich, both in Connecticut, have each hired an in-store registered dietitian.

Jennifer Kwon, who works at ShopRite of Norwich, completed a dietetic internship with the Nassau County Medical Center and New York Institute of Technology in 2000, while Sharon DeSesa, who is on staff at ShopRite of Clinton, is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Both stores are owned by the Capano family of Five Star Supermarkets.

Highlighting Healthier Choices

Both Kwon and DeSesa will aid customers in making healthier choices while food shopping, as well as in the preparation of balanced meals. They’ll also host a series of healthy-cooking classes, provide recipes, hold seminars on pantry overhauls and run store tours. Kwon and DeSesa are among more than 80 registered dietitians at ShopRite stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland, all of whom offer nutrition advice, meal-planning tips, and diet modification for particular medical conditions.

All ShopRite nutritional services are available free of charge, with customers also able to make individual appointments with the dietitians.
