AG New England Lets Water Flow to Charitable Endeavors Here and Abroad
Associated Grocers of New England, Inc., has donated 5,000 bottles of Shurfine private label drinking water to Grace Capital Church in its hometown of Pembroke, N.H. As part of a continuing fundraising campaign, the water is being sold at a range of community events, with proceeds benefiting Water for Wells, a church mission, in cooperation with New Hampshire-based nonprofit Global Benefit, to drill clean water wells in Rwanda.
Additionally, a portion of bottled water sales at the recent 27th Annual Pittsfield, N.H. Rotary Hot Air Balloon Rally went to Reach, a Concord, N.H. faith-based homelessness outreach program, and the Pittsfield Rotary's various local community-focused initiatives.
"The funds we raise will help both locally and internationally by engaging local young people in community projects to raise funds that help our neighbors around the world," said Tess Crick of Global Benefit.
AG New England is owned entirely by independent retail grocers as members of a cooperative and is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale grocery distribution center in New England. The company serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the upstate New York/Albany area, including nearly 500 supermarkets and convenience stores.
