Ahold Close to Appointing New US Foodservice CEO
ZAANDAM, Netherlands - Dutch retailer Ahold is "very close" to picking a new CEO for its scandal-ridden U.S. Foodservice unit, Ahold's new CEO told Reuters today.
The company has been looking for someone with a U.S. background in the catering food service industry, said Anders Moberg, whose own appointment as CEO of the parent company was confirmed by shareholders last week.
"We are very close to making a final decision for the CEO. It's a question of weeks," he said in an interview.
U.S. Foodservice's former chief, Jim Miller, was removed in May, months after auditors uncovered a near billion-dollar accounting hole at the subsidiary. Ahold has decided to keep U.S. Foodservice for the time being and decide on its future within two years as the company maps out a new strategy for Ahold group's recovery.
