Alaska Seafood Org Baits Grocers with 'Cook It Frozen' Consumer Campaign
The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) has renewed its commitment to help retailers educate consumers on the benefits of stocking up on and preparing frozen Alaska seafood, with its successful Cook It Frozen techniques.
ASMI said it is bolstering its efforts to reflect current consumer demand for food options that are quick, economical, and earth friendly.
Supermarket sales of frozen seafood have increased considerably over the last decade, according to the Juneau, Ak.-based seafood trade group. It developed the Cook It Frozen! program to teach consumers that they can cook seafood that is still frozen, with no pre-planning or thawing necessary.
Individual portions allow consumers to cook only what is needed for any given meal, with no waste, ASMI said.
Frozen Alaska seafood also retains all the nutritional value of fresh seafood throughout its extended shelf life.
"We're working hand in hand with retailers this fall to help them feature Cook It Frozen! promotions," said ASMI retail marketing director Larry Andrews. "Consumers know that the Alaska seafood logo represents a product that is wild, natural, and sustainable and retailers can capitalize on this demand for Alaska seafood by drawing attention to the frozen seafood section with our [POS] materials," Andrews added.
ASMI said grocers can order the program's free materials by calling 800-806-2497.
