Albert's Organics Makes Executive Appointments

BRIDGEPORT, N.J. -- Albert's Organics here, the nation's leading distributor of quality organically grown produce and perishable items, is beefing up its executive suite with a number of appointments.

Clay Ryon has been promoted to business manager for Albert' Source Organics division. Source Organics, Albert's produce purchasing arm, buys well over $100 million dollars of organic produce annually. Ryon, a 16-year industry veteran, joined Albert's in October 2003 as quality control manager at the Bridgeport DC, where he handled inbound inspections, inventory control, and the banana program.

George Wright has been named fresh category director, in which capacity he'll be responsible for the rapidly growing portfolio of fresh items that are in addition to the meat and produce categories such as dressings, dairy, juices, sauces, and spreads. Wright joins Albert's from food broker Advantage Sales and Marketing, where he served as business development manager. Before that, he was the Rocky Mountain sales manager for Applegate Farms.

Scott Pendleton has joined Albert's new Midwest division as logistics manager. Before coming to Albert's, Pendleton worked for Atlas Cold Storage, which handled all refrigerated dairy, meat, produce, frozen, and deli items. While there he served in all departments, including supervising inventory, shipping, receiving, selecting, and special projects. Albert's Midwest is slated to open in Greenwood, Ind. May 19.

James Day, who has more than 30 years of experience in the produce industry, has joined Albert's Twin Cities division as sales manager. Day's previous positions include inside sales, retail merchandiser, buyer, department director, and key account representative, and his retail experience encompasses working with Kroger, Winn-Dixie, and Food Lion. Additionally, he has also worked in various parts of the country for such wholesale businesses as Corey Bros. Produce, Supervalu, Indianapolis Fruit, and Hills Floral Group.
