Albertsons, NAI Offering Flu Vaccinations

Albertsons and New Albertsons Inc. pharmacies are now offering flu vaccinations to help protect shoppers during this upcoming flu season.

“A flu vaccine is one of the simplest steps that families can take to help protect themselves, their loved ones and friends during flu season,” said Dan Salemi, president of pharmacy operations. “Albertsons pharmacies have traditional flu vaccines and mists that will work for the majority of patients as well as high dose vaccines for seniors, and our professional pharmacy team can administer flu shots quickly and easily.”

Specially trained pharmacists are available to administer the traditional flu vaccine, needle-free FluMist nasal spray and Fluzone Intradermal, as well as Fluzone HD for patients ages 65 and older, during regular pharmacy hours with no appointment necessary.

Traditional flu vaccines, Fluzone Intradermal and FluMist are priced at $29.99. Fluzone HD is available for $59.99, and many commercial health plans or Medicare Part B will cover the cost, according to Albertsons.

Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons operates more than 600 stores in 16 states. New Albertsons Inc.’s Shaw and Star Supermarkets, Acme and Jewel locations are also offering similar vaccination programs at their pharmacies.
