Albertsons Names Mark Panzer SVP, Pharmacy
Albertson's Inc. has named Mark Panzer to lead the company's 1,760 pharmacies as its SVP, pharmacy, health and wellness. He replaces Darren Singer, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities, according to AB Acquisition LLC, Albertsons' parent company.
A 40-year industry veteran, Panzer began his career with Osco Drug, serving in regional sales and marketing and regional operations roles. He was later named VP of sales and marketing for American Drug Stores, before being named SVP of sales and marketing for Albertsons upon the merger with American Stores in 1999.
In 2001, Panzer left to join Rite Aid as EVP of store operations, and was named senior EVP and chief marketing officer in 2005. In 2008, he was appointed president/CEO of Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy Inc.
"[Panzer's] extensive retail, sales, and marketing experience will be invaluable to our Pharmacy team as we move forward with our goal to be the Favorite Local Supermarket for our customers and employees," noted Shane Sampson, chief marketing and merchandising officer for Albertsons.
Cerberus-owned Capital Management AB Acquisition LLC operates more than 2,200 stores and 1,700 pharmacies in 34 states and the District of Columbia under 18 banners.
