Albertson's Sav-on Drugs Celebrates 60 with 60
FULLERTON, Calif. -- To commemorate its 60th anniversary, Albertson's pharmacy banner Sav-on Drugs and its associates have pledged to donate $60,000 and 60,000 volunteer hours to non-profit organizations in the communities it serves.
The retailer opened its first store in San Bernardino in 1945, and today operates approximately 370 stores in California and Nevada. "After 60 years, we are honored that Sav-on Drugs has become such a recognized household brand in many Southern California and Las Vegas homes," said Larry Johnston, chairman, c.e.o. and president of Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons. "We are thrilled that so many customers have placed their trust in our stores and our pharmacists. We are proud to highlight this anniversary with our commitment of additional community-service hours and donations to the neighborhoods that have supported us over the years."
Sav-on Drugs will provide $60,000 to non-profit organizations in Southern California and Las Vegas during the month-long celebration. Recipients of the donations include Para los Ninos, Educating Young Minds, The Bob Hope USO, Covenant House, North County Serenity House, and Opportunity Village.
Sav-on associates have also pledged 60,000 hours of volunteer service to the community during the year.
