Aldi Unveils Host of ‘Special Purchase’ Holiday Toy Deals
In a bid to further improve upon its already established reputation for competitive prices in the face of a worsening economy, discount grocer Aldi is boasting that it’s selling nearly 60 of the most popular kids toys at roughly 58 percent less than big box prices.
Seeking to equip kid-loving deal hunters with everything from a Hannah Montana Electric Guitar to a Nintendo DS, Joan Kavanaugh, v.p. of corporate purchasing for the Batavia, Ill.-based discount retailer, affirms Aldi as “a place that can help all families stretch their holiday dollars. There's a lot more you can do for your children when toys are this much less expensive.”
The selection of hot toys set to appear on Aldi’s shelves beginning Nov. 2 include Star Wars Transformer Figures at $9.99 vs. $14.99 to $15.94 at the competition, a 34 percent savings; the Hannah Montana Electric Guitar at $16.99 vs. $24.88 to $26.99 at competitors, for up to a 38 percent difference; and the Fisher Price Sweet as Me Dolls for $9.99 compared to $16.94 and $16.99 at the other stores for as much as a 41 percent savings.
