Anthrax Scare Closes Meijer Grocery Store in Ohio

CINCINNATI - An anthrax scare forced a Meijer store in Clermont County's Union Township, Ohio, to close Sunday after powder was found on items in a poultry case, according to Cincinnati's WLWT Eyewitness News 5.

Shortly after the powder was discovered, someone called the store and said that the powder was anthrax, WLWT reported. Emergency officials said that it is very unlikely that the powder is anthrax, but the store remained closed Monday morning.

None of the store's customers or employees were treated, but everyone in the store was told to go home and take a good, soapy shower, WLWT reported. Local health officials stressed that there is plenty of time for treatment if anyone was exposed to anthrax.

Emergency crews sent the powder to Columbus for testing
