A&P Banners Rolling Out Exclusive Whole Grain Bread Line
MONTVALE, N.J. -- Select A&P, Waldbaum's, The Food Emporium, and Super Fresh stores are introducing an exclusive line of stone-ground whole grain breads, in partnership with ACE Bakery, a Toronto-based artisan bakery supplier known for its hand-made, European-style rustic breads. The ACE breads will be baked fresh daily in the stores.
The A&P banners are the first grocery chain to offer a dedicated whole grain bread line, according to the retailer. Selections include Multigrain Demi-Baguette, Seven Grain Oval, Harvest Wheat Oval, Spelt and Cracked Wheat Batard, Cranberry Raisin Flax Oval, and Pumpkin Seed Oval.
Preservative-free ACE Bakery breads are made using a special technique that combines a gentle shaping of each loaf, long fermentation periods, and a stone deck oven, all which result in flavorful breads with a light, airy texture and crisp, golden crust.
"Studies show that eating more whole grains rather then refined grains reduces your risk of diabetes, helps you maintain your weight, and cuts your risk of stroke and heart disease," noted ACE Bakery co-founder Linda Haynes.
A&P president and c.e.o. Eric Claus added that the line "provides customers with healthy and delicious alternatives right in their local store."
A&P operates 456 stores in eight states and the District of Columbia under the following trade names: A&P, Pathmark, Waldbaum's, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh and Food Basics.
