A&P Takes Remodel to 'Next Level'
The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. (A&P) held a grand-reopening ceremony Sept. 10 at its newly remodeled Woodcliff Lake, N.J., store, which the grocer said it has taken to the “next level” with a two-tiered layout.
The revamped location’s expansive departments offer a broad assortment of fresh and gourmet foods, including meats, cheeses, deli, produce, seafood, complemented by a full-service bakery, Starbucks Café, floral department and pharmacy, in addition to a center store department providing a complete line of specialty items for men, children and pets. Fresh daily prepared hot and cold foods are also now available at the store.
“The Woodcliff Lake store has been a long-standing staple in the community, with many loyal Customers that visit [manager] Greg Soriano and his team daily,” noted A&P CEO and president Sam Martin, who, accompanied by the company’s executive management team and store staffers, was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “We wanted to thank them for their support by remodeling the store to better serve their needs.”
Among the store’s highlights:
--In the prepared foods area, a full-service pizza counter; specialty hot foods such as lasagna, meatballs and eggplant; a full pasta station; a giant salad bar including 12 feet of imported olives, grains and antipasto items; a made-to-order sandwich bar; fresh soup selections; and a 40-seat Starbucks Café
--Fresh fish available direct from Fulton Market, including shrimp, lobsters, shellfish, organic and all-natural fish selections; a wide variety of filets and steaks; and a Sushi Bar offering daily specials
--A meat department providing American-bred Wagyu beef; Green Way All Natural chicken, beef and pork; and a large selection of choices for daily meals or special-event menus
--Locally grown produce, including 25 varieties of tomatoes, fresh and dry herbs, 18 varieties of mushrooms, and over 70 organic items, in addition to daily cut fruits and vegetables, and party platters
--A Bakery stocked with specialty and custom cakes, including a Gluten-free line, along with a full selection of breads and rolls, cookies, pies, and candies such as chocolate-covered pretzels
--An enhanced floral selection that now includes mixed bouquets from around the world, and offers shoppers the option of creating custom floral arrangements for special events
--A full-service deli department offering a full variety of Boar’s Head and Hartford Reserve cold cuts and cheeses; hot foods to go, including rotisserie chickens, hams and pork loins; and a cheese shop with over 250 varieties of cheese and such complementary delicacies as caviar
--A Center Store Department stocked with many specialty items, including a gluten-free and natural products, along with expanded product assortments in men’s health and grooming, babies and kids, pets, and beauty care, among other categories.
--A complete pharmacy center
The Woodcliff Lake A&P additionally provides a catering service for personal and business needs, WiFi, online shopping with pickup/delivery options, and prescription delivery.
The festivities marking the store reopening lasted through the weekend, and included cash register giveaways, music and entertainment, raffles, sampling, special character appearances, balloons for kids, and an in-store performance by the Shinbone Alley Stilt band. Shoppers also had the chance to win a free bag of groceries, or a free pizza from the store’s pizza counter, during hourly giveaways between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
