Avocados From Mexico Awards Sweepstakes Prize Package

Avocados from Mexico recently awarded its “Pantry Pointers and Prep with Cheryl and Suvir” sweepstakes prize package, which includes a private nutrition consultation, a cooking lesson and an in-home food shopping instruction session with Cheryl Forberg, nutritionist for seasons 1-12 of NBC’s "The Biggest Loser," and Suvir Saron, author and contestant on Bravo’s "Top Chef Masters" season 3.

Designed by the Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association (MHAIA) – a Mexico-based avocado supplier -- the sweepstakes promotes avocados’ nutritional value and provides simple ways to incorporate avocados in everyday meals.

Using their experience and expertise, as well as the SuperTracker – a Web tool that supports the USDA’s MyPlate healthy eating initiative - Forsberg and Saron set a path for sweepstakes winner Laurie Lichtenstein of Benbrook, Texas, to adopt a healthier lifestyle by incorporating whole grains, fruits and vegetables, as well as healthy fats and lean proteins into her diet. The celebrity duo offered additional kitchen-friendly advice such as preparation tips, complementary dishes and seasonings, and suggestions on effective culinary tools.

“Get everyone in the family involved in the cooking process,” said Saron. “Young children can help rinse vegetables, tweens can stir sauces, and older children can chop ingredients. Not only will your family appreciate the meal more, but you’ll instill important lessons about healthy eating habits at a young age.”

Avocado fans were able to enter the sweepstakes Feb. 17 through May 7 on Avocados from Mexico’s Facebook page, or register at any of the 12 “Taste the WOW!” Mobile Tour stops around the country.
