Barilla Serves Up New Ways to ‘Share the Table’

In an extension of Barilla USA’s goal to provide families with the necessary tools to make mealtimes special, the Bannockburn, Ill.-based pasta company has revamped its Share the Table online resource. The new ShareTheTable.com site now offers over 700 recipes and expert tips, as well as a variety of interactive tools, giveaways and contests to create a better dinner experience. The manufacturer initially rolled out “Share the Table: The Barilla Family Dinner Project” this past year.

For each consumer who pledges to enjoy meaningful meals with family and friends, Barilla will donate $1 to Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), up to $150,000, to help fund home-delivered and congregate meal programs serving over 1 million meals daily. For a limited time, the brand will not only donate $1 to MOWAA for each visitor who joins the Share the Table movement, but will also offer those visitors an exclusive downloadable collection of simple recipes from celebrity chef Mario Batali.

Additionally, to help with family meal planning during the summer, Barilla is offering free pasta meals. By entering the sweepstakes online, pasta fans can win coupons for Barilla Pasta and Barilla Sauce, along with recipes and pairing suggestions. Through Sept. 10, 2010, 500 winners will be chosen.

Families also have the opportunity to share their stories with others on the Web, through the Mealtime Moments contest. Stories should impart how family members bond at the table, with successes and struggles emphasized. The award for the winning dinnertime story is a month’s worth of groceries. The contest runs through Sept. 10 as well.

Italy-based Barilla owns 52 production facilities, 13 of them in its home country, and exports products to over 125 countries.
