Bashas' Starts Halloween Early at New Chandler Store
CHANDLER, Ariz. -- To celebrate the upcoming grand opening of its latest Bashas’ unit here, family-owned regional supermarket chain Bashas' is holding two free events next week -- a sneak preview of the new store and indoor trick-or-treating.
During the sneak preview event on Oct. 25, staff at the Chandler site will provide visitors with free samples throughout the store as well as giveaways, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. On Oct. 29 it will hold morning trick-or-treating, during which parents can bring their children to the store for a special indoor trick-or-treating event, and children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. The store will officially open to the public at 6 a.m. on Oct. 26.
Bashas' said the store is the latest of a new prototype design that showcases the chain's offerings in an upscale store interior. The prototype's features include a United Drug pharmacy; a Natural Choice department that offers nutritional supplements and natural and organic food and products; a full-service meat department featuring corn-fed Angus beef; a made-from-scratch bakery; an olive bar; a full-service deli offering Boar's Head brand meats and cheeses, as well as chef-prepared hot entrees; wood-fired pizza; and a Wells Fargo full-service bank.
This latest unit adds a unique feature: a leased-operation Chinese food restaurant called Rice Garden. "The Chinese restaurant is very popular in the area," Jay Volk, v.p. foodservices, told Progressive Grocer. "We'll also have a Taco Grille, which has authentic Mexican foods that are made fresh."
The store will additionally feature a Cub House child care center where shoppers can drop off their kids (ages 2 to 10) for up to 90 minutes while they shop at Bashas'.The new 54,000-square-foot location will be the sixth Bashas' store in Chandler and the 81st Bashas' store in the chain.
