Bi-Lo Launches Gold Star Meats
Greenville, S.C.-based regional grocer Bi-Lo has introduced Gold Star, a line of meat products that includes beef, chicken and pork.
According to Bi-Lo, Gold Star chicken is air-chilled, never frozen and available as whole fryers, assorted packages or individual cuts. Gold Star pork is raised without the use of hormones or steroids. Gold Star Certified Angus Beef -- a cut above USDA Prime, Choice and Select beef -- is cultivated by farmers and ranchers across America and will be offered in a variety of cuts.
Bi-Lo said it will continue to offer Strauss brand veal and fresh American lamb under the Gold Star umbrella.
Rounding out the Gold Star family are Springer Mountain Farms antibiotic-free chicken and Laura's Lean Beef, an all-natural line from cattle that are fed a vegetarian diet, raised without hormones or antibiotics, and naturally lower in fat and cholesterol.
"Bi-Lo strives to bring shoppers savings without sacrifice throughout our store, and our commitment to excellence is truly exemplified through our new Gold Star meat lineup," said Stacey Couch, director of meat and seafood merchandising. "Our Gold Star chicken is locally sourced to ensure it's the freshest available, and our Gold Star pork is available in a variety of cuts, from roasts to ribs to chops. Certified Angus Beef is the finest beef available, and because our customers deserve nothing but the very best, we're excited to now be offering Certified Angus Beef under the Gold Star brand at the same great everyday low prices for which Bi-Lo has always been known."
