Bi-Lo's Anthea Jones Named GMDC Exec. Committee Secretary/Treasurer
Nonfoods trade group Global Market Development Center (GMDC) named Bi-Lo group v.p., center store Anthea Jones secretary and treasurer of its executive committee, effective immediately.
Jones has been a contributing member of GMDC's board since 2006. "Anthea has been an important thought leader on the GMDC board for a number of years and in assuming a role on our executive committee the association will benefit from his experience in leading center store at his company," said GMDC president/c.e.o. David McConnell. "As GMDC focuses on health and wellness issues and the need to integrate the health beauty wellness and general merchandise categories into the health and wellness mix along with grocery, Anthea will offer important insights on how we can most effectively develop our education and insights programs to align with opportunities that exist in center store."
Jones holds an MBA from Shepperton University in London, England, and a BS in economics and statistical methodology from North Carolina State University. Prior to his current role at BI-LO, he served as the retailer's v.p. of general merchandise and HBC, nonfoods, and pharmacy, and as regional v.p. of operations.
