BJ’s Rolls Out Upscale Baked Goods
Shoppers can now savor international tastes just by visiting their nearest BJ’s Wholesale Club, with the introduction of the Natick, Mass.-based chain’s fresh Wellsley Farms brand imported pastries, European-inspired artisan breads and signature muffins, all offered at everyday low prices. Featuring enhanced ingredients and new, select baking processes, the collection is baked fresh throughout the day, according to BJ’s, which operates 189 clubs and 105 gas stations in 15 eastern states.
“We worked with some of the finest breadmakers and leading pastry bakers to create the perfect blend of old-world traditions with the latest technology,” said Michael Coppola, BJ’s VP and divisional merchandise manager. “You can taste the difference from even just one bite of these top-notch breads and delectable treats!”
The items are as follows:
Breads: Wellsley Farms breads are made from all-natural ingredients, mixed and handcrafted in small batches, and shaped and partially cooked in stone- or tile-lined hearths before shipment to BJ’s for the final baking. Containing zero trans fats and no high-fructose corn syrup, each loaf comes in convenient, re-sealable packages. The single-loaf breads are available in French Baguette, Multigrain, Neo-Tuscan Boule, Pane Italiano, Roasted Garlic, Rosemary Pugliese, and Sesame Semolina varieties and retail for $2.49 to $3.99, while the rolls retail for $2.99 to 4.49 for a Ciabatta 12-pack, Crusty 20-pack or Petite Baguette 4-pack
Croissants: Imported from Europe, these buttery baked goods, which feature zero trans fats and no high-fructose corn syrup, are created by allowing the moist sponge dough to ripen for several hours, a process which also gives rise to its rich aroma. The varieties are a Multigrain 6-pack, featured first in the United States only at BJ’s, for $3.49; Plain Croissants made with extra European butter, retailing for $2.99 per 6-pack, $5.79 to $5.99 per 12-pack, and $5.29 per mini-size 20-pack; and Chocolate Croissants made with Belgian chocolate, retailing for $429 per 6-pack
Danishes: Featuring zero trans fat, the available Raspberry, Vanilla or Maple Pecan varieties also hail from Europe and are made with the same pastry dough as BJ’s sweet croissants. The Raspberry Filled or Creamy Vanilla Danish made with all-natural fruit fillings retail for $4.99 per 6-pack, while the Maple Pecan Danish made with a maple filling, topped with pecans and lightly drizzled with maple syrup goes for $5.99 per 8-pack
Muffins: Created from a customized blending of moist creme cake and a traditional New England recipe to offer a unique taste, the muffins contain zero trans fats and no high-fructose corn syrup. A 6-pack of Wild Blueberry, Double Dark Chocolate Chunk & Chocolate Chunk, Cinnamon Coffee Cake, or Traditional Corn & Wild Blueberry retails for $3.99
BJ’s croissants, pastries and muffins are also offered in eco-friendly, re-sealable packages and come in family-friendly sizes.
