B&R ‘Smokes’ the Competition
B&R Stores’ Smoke House team won Best of Show at the recent Nebraska Association of Meat Processors Cured Meats Competition.
The team took top honors for the Swiss Onion Bell Sausage prepared by Adam Meisenheimer, Smoke House manager at the Super Saver in Millard, Neb. Meisenheimer’s creation led the way as the team earned 24 awards, more than a third of the total awards presented for smoked or cured meats. B&R Stores earned seven first-place Grand Champion awards and swept the Smoked Turkey category, winning all four awards.
“Our Smoke House managers are passionate about their craft, and it’s good to see them rewarded for their skill,” said Pat Raybould, president of B&R Stores. “Their creativity and care show in the sausages and smoked meats they prepare for our customers every day.”
Several Super Saver stores have an in-store smokehouse, as does the Russ’s Market store in Hastings. Smoke House products are available at all Super Saver locations.
Competing for B&R Stores were Meisenheimer, Bob Voss from the Super Saver at 27th and Pine Lake Road in Lincoln, Randy Douglas from the Super Saver at 56th and Highway 2 in Lincoln, and Keith Johnson from the Russ’s Market in Hastings.
Founded in 1964, Lincoln, Neb.-based B&R Stores Inc. includes four store concepts (Russ’s Market, Super Saver, Save Best Foods and Grand Central Apple Market) located in seven cities across Nebraska and Iowa.
