Brazilian Retailer Sticks With DemandTec Price Optimization Software

DemandTec, Inc., a leading provider of on-demand optimization solutions for retailers and consumer products companies, today announced that

Grupo Pao de Acucar, a division of Companhia Brasileira de Distribuicao (PNA) and the largest retail group in Brazil, has renewed its subscription to DemandTec.s Everyday Price Optimization software service. The Sao Paulo-based retailer, which operates over 1,000 stores across a range of store formats, has been a DemandTec customer since 2007.

With DemandTec’s advanced analytical capabilities, Grupo Pao de Acucar has enabled its business users to execute more effective pricing strategies. Employing the provider’s Everyday Price Optimization software service, the retailer automates the process of planning and optimizing its pricing activities.

Everyday Price Optimization is a component service of DemandTec Lifecycle Price Optimization, a comprehensive solution for managing and optimizing pricing across the entire store. The solution, which additionally includes the Promotion Optimization and Markdown Optimization software services, enables retailers to understand, predict and influence consumer demand to reach financial and price image objectives.

All DemandTec software services, including Everyday Price Optimization, are delivered via the DemandTec TradePoint Network, an Internet-based platform connecting all DemandTec software services used by retailers and their suppliers to collaborate on pricing, promotion, assortment and other decisions. The approximately 10,000 retailer and manufacturer end-users on the network have collaborated on over 3 million trade deals to date, according to the vendor.

Companhia Brasileira de Distribuicao, along with its subsidiaries, is a retailer and wholesaler of food products, bazaar articles, clothing, home appliances and other items through its chain of hypermarkets, supermarkets, specialized and department stores, convenience stores, and the Internet. The company’s banners include Pao de Acucar, CompreBem and Extra.

DemandTec retail customers include Ahold USA, Delhaize America, HEB Grocery Co., Target and Walmart.
