Bud Honors the 4th with Packaging, Celebration
Budweiser celebrated July 4th with Jersey City, N.J.’s Freedom & Fireworks Festival, including a free concert and a fireworks display over the Hudson River. The event, which also included an appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales, is part of the Budweiser wholesaler network’s commitment to donate more than $3 million to the Folds of Honor Foundation in 2014.
Additionally, Budweiser celebrated Independence Day in the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut tri-state area with a special delivery. In Jersey City, the Clydesdales, hitch team and red wagon delivered an educational scholarship to a military family on behalf of Folds of Honor, Budweiser and the Budweiser wholesaler network. The scholarship is just one of 600 scholarships Budweiser and its wholesalers will fund through a $3 million donation to Folds of Honor in 2014.
Consumers Can Donate
Now through Aug. 15, beer drinkers can do their part by entering an online code contained inside specially marked packages of Budweiser to trigger a $1 donation to Folds of Honor, accounting for up to $1 million combined with wholesaler contributions for a more than $3 million total donation to Folds of Honor in 2014.
At the Jersey City Freedom & Fireworks festival, the Duris family will receive a $5,000 Folds of Honor scholarship in honor of their father, Staff St. Christopher Goski, who served 11 years in the Marine Corps Special Forces. Goski completed seven tours of duty to Iraq and Afghanistan and died in the line of duty in June 2012.
Since partnering with Owasso, Okla.-based Folds of Honor in 2010, Budweiser and its wholesalers have raised nearly $10 million for military families, accounting for thousands of scholarships across the country. In 2014, the brand and its wholesalers will donate more than $3 million to the foundation. With each educational scholarship valued at $5,000, the $3 million-plus donation will provide an estimated 600 scholarships to families of soldiers killed or disabled in action.
This year marks the 81st anniversary of the Budweiser Clydesdales, which made their first appearance on behalf of Anheuser-Busch on April 7, 1933, when they delivered a case of Budweiser to the White House in celebration of the repeal of prohibition of beer.
