Calif. Grocers Help Underserved Eat Healthy

The Network for a Healthy California is teaming up with California grocers to host Fruit and Veggie Fest – a series of events and promotions designed to empower low-income families across the state to make healthy, active living a priority even during a tough economy by showing them how to “eat right when money’s tight.”

Now in its third year, 2009 marks the first time the program is statewide, and has grown from four events last year to 11 this year. The program kicked off with two events May 2 in Gilroy and National City, with the final event scheduled to take place May 31 in Sacramento.
