Costco, H-E-B and Publix all appeared on Indeed's first-ever list of Top-Rated Workplaces for Veterans

Costco Wholesale, H.E. Butt Grocery Co. and Publix Super Markets have been identified as Top-Rated Workplaces for Veterans in an inaugural list from Austin, Texas-based global job site Indeed, ranking Nos. 4, 5 and 37 out of 50 companies. Convenience store operator Wawa came in 42nd in the ranking.

To come up with the list, Indeed analyzed veterans’ reviews of their workplaces, and then reviewed company workplace initiatives to support vets.

Of Issaquah, Wash.-based Costco, Indeed said: “Not only does the company offer military discounts to customers, it also offers flexible hours for those attending school on the GI Bill, thus supporting education.”

Meanwhile, regarding San Antonio-based H-E-B, the job site noted: “The company has highlighted the natural fit between veterans and [itself], citing [its] leadership experience and ability to work as a team.” The grocer topped Indeed’s Top-Rated Retail Companies to Work For in 2018.

H-E-B operates 400 stores in Texas and Mexico.The company is No. 6 on Progressive Grocer’s 2018 Super 50 list of the top grocers in the United States. Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix, which has 1,209 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, is No. 5 on the list.
