Cub Pharmacies Donates Calling Cards Camp Shelby National Guard

MINNEAPOLIS -- Cub Pharmacies, operated by Supervalu, Inc. here, donated 750 pre-paid, 60-minute calling cards to more than 4,000 Army National Guard troops at Camp Shelby, Miss., who are training for their March 2006 deployment to Southeast Asia.

Cub Pharmacies' decided to donate the pre-paid calling cards to soldiers at Camp Shelby, a National Guard training site that prepares troops for overseas mobilization, in response to Gov. Tim Pawlenty's recent appeal that Minnesotans seek ways to support Minnesota's significant number of deployed National Guard troops.

"We were searching for a way to support the soldiers who dedicate their lives to protecting us and promoting freedom," said Jon Mobley, manager of Supervalu Pharmacies buying group. "We hope that these calling cards will bring a little joy to soldiers and their families during the holiday season."

Supervalu Pharmacies operates 200 pharmacies across the country from Baltimore/Washington, D.C. to St. Louis, including more than 50 Cub Pharmacies in Minnesota.
