D'Agostino Signs on with SureBeam
SAN DIEGO - San Diego-based SureBeam Corporation announced on Tuesday that D'Agostino Supermarkets has become the first New York metropolitan area retailer to offer SureBeam processed fresh ground beef in its stores.
SureBeam's electron beam technology uses ordinary electricity to eliminate harmful bacteria. The SureBeam processed fresh ground beef is available in several case-ready product offerings.
"At D'Agostino, food safety has always been number one," said Nicholas D'Agostino Jr., chairman of D'Agostino. "When we were introduced to SureBeam, learned more about the technology and tasted the product, we were impressed. We knew many of our customers would like the opportunity to try the product."
SureBeam processed ground beef and fruit products are already sold across the country in thousands of supermarkets, as well as by home delivery, direct mail and through foodservice.
D'Agostino Supermarkets operates 23 stores in New York City and suburban Westchester County.
