Delhaize to Buy Greek Chain
BRUSSELS, Belgium -- Delhaize Group here said Friday it has agreed to acquire Plus Hellas, a Greek supermarket chain owned by the Tengelmann Group, for 69.5 million euros ($102.6 million).
Delhaize said the acquisition of Plus Hellas's 33 stores and a distribution center will boost the position of its own Greek business, Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos.
Delhaize expects the deal to close during the second quarter.
