Delhaize Group CEO Named Chairman of CIES
The member companies of global trade group CIES -- The Food Business Forum have elected Pierre-Olivier Beckers, president and c.e.o. of the Delhaize Group, as the new chairman, a position he will hold for the next two years.
Delhaize, a Belgian retail group that owns U.S. grocers Food Lion, Hannaford, and Sweetbay Supermarkets, was one of the founders of CIES 55 years ago.
The CIES board of directors has also appointed Jeff Noddle, chairman of the board and c.e.o. of Supervalu; and Michael Luscombe, c.e.o. of Woolworths Australia, as new members.
“CIES is a unique international organization, providing a neutral place for debate between retailers and suppliers,” Beckers said. “As we enter challenging times, food and consumer goods companies play a vital social and economic role, by providing nutritious food and household essentials at everyday low prices.”
