Dole Adds New V.P./ Worldwide Applied Research Post
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Dole Food Company, Inc. based here named Dr. Thomas Farewell v.p. of worldwide applied research. Farewell will begin his new duties this Wed., Sept. 21, and will report to Richard J. Dahl, Dole's president and c.o.o.
Among Farewell's responsibilities will be working with the company's divisional research organizations to continue Dole's history of research innovations and agricultural practices that enable the company to bring the highest quality products to the marketplace.
Previously, Farewell served as a military officer with the Corps of Engineers, retiring as a colonel in 1992. His last military assignment was chief of financial programming at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He also worked previously for GMP Associates in Honolulu as v.p./federal and international programs. Most recently he was president and c.e.o. of the Oceanic Institute in Hawaii, a private not-for-profit research and development corporation that has a for-profit subsidiary at which Farewell oversaw the management of 110 professional and scientific staff.
Farewell has a B.S. degree from the United States Military Academy. He also holds both a M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Illinois.
