Eat Smart
Smartwhite, the latest product from Wonder, the Irving, Texas-based baker of America’s top-selling brand of white bread, combines the taste and soft texture of white bread with all of the fiber present in 100 percent whole wheat bread. The launch extends the iconic brand’s line of breads for those who prefer the taste of white bread but want to fit more nutrition into their overall diet. As well as providing 5 grams of fiber per serving and calcium equal to an 8-ounce glass of milk in two slices, the new bread is a good source of nine vitamins and minerals such as iron, vitamin D and folic acid, and has 33 percent less sodium than regular white bread. Each slice also contains just 50 calories. Additionally, Smartwhite will appear on the Sandwich Wonder-izer, a free iPhone and iTouch app enabling consumers to create unique sandwiches from a list of over 120 ingredients. Although varying according to region and promotions, the suggested retail price range for a 20-ounce loaf is generally between $2.99 and $3.99. To find out more, visit www.wonderbread.com.
