Famed Hollywood Bakery to Supply Gelson's Century City Market
LOS ANGELES -- Regional independent Gelson's plans to feature a famed West Hollywood bakery concept in its Century City store here September 8, in the latest of an ongoing effort to upgrade the already upscale, fresh-oriented store.
Sweet Lady Jane will be launching at the store with a display featuring a selection of Sweet Lady Jane cakes, pies, and cookies, delivered fresh every day. The display will include Jane's signature Triple Berry Shortcake, a layered yellow butter cake with three kinds of berries and a whipped cream frosting, available by the slice and in 4, 6 and 12-inch cakes.
Also available is the bakery's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake, made from chocolate cake filled with chocolate buttercream, frosted with chocolate ganache, and crowned with imported dark chocolate curls, which will come by the slice, as well as in 6 and 9-inch dimensions.
The Sweet Lady Jane offerings is the latest of a recent series of revamps at the Gelson's unit. Others include a 4,000-square-foot store expansion; new service deli, bakery, and floral departments; a center aisle for shopping convenience; a gourmet cheese department with an olive oil and vinegar bar; and new headquarters for Jessica Siegel, Gelson's registered dietitian. The store soon will also include a new Soup and Salad bar.
