Family Dollar Extends Market Information Agreement with Nielsen
MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Discount store chain Family Dollar Stores, Inc., yesterday renewed its agreement to have The Nielsen Co. provide the retailer with market information solutions.
Nielsen, parent company of Progressive Grocer, has provided marketing information support to Family Dollar since 2004. Under the new multi-year contract, Nielsen will work with the retailer to provide a more complete understanding of its consumers' shopping behavior. Nielsen will also collaborate with Family Dollar's vendor community, making in-store data available to Family Dollar's suppliers.
In other news, Family Dollar this week promoted Scott Zucker to v.p. - merchandising operations responsible for overseeing category management, pricing, merchandise solutions, vendor management, and visual merchandising. He reports to Robert George, e.v.p. and c.m.o.
Family Dollar operates more than 6,400 stores in a 44-state area ranging northwest to Idaho, northeast to Maine, southeast to Florida, and southwest to Arizona.
