First RetailConnections Summit Scheduled for February
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- RetailConnections said yesterday it would hold an inaugural Business Executive Summit to bring together senior-level retail executives to talk across department silos about innovation.
The summit, scheduled for Feb. 6 to Feb. 8 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Fla., will offer groundbreaking end-user content, surveys, and other presentations from retail and industry experts, in addition to plenty of networking opportunities, said the event organization.
"Collaboration between departments and disciplines is what makes a retailer shine -- and that will be the focus of the Business and IT Executive Summit," said Marc Millstein, principal and founder of RetailConnections, in a statement. "Our 360-degree approach to the summit reflects one of our company's core philosophies; by drawing a wider range of senior executive titles, the summit fosters interaction of departments across the retail enterprise, while raising the value of conversation and networking."
Highlights of the upcoming event include the release of two new industry studies, the first conducted by Gartner and RetailConnections on retail innovation, and the second by Karabus Consulting on the role of the c.f.o. in retail. Keynote presentations and panel discussion topics will include "Financial Decision-Making in Today's Market"; "Customer Experience Optimization"; "Merchandising, Marketing and Pricing Excellence"; "Seizing Cross-Channel Expansion Opportunities"; and "Mastering Business and IT Process Alignment."
Among the speakers from the food-retailing sector will be Bennett Nussbaum, s.v.p., c.f.o., Winn-Dixie and Brett Bonner, director of research and development, Kroger.
Confirmed attendees to date include one or more senior executives from such companies as Hannaford Bros., Wakefern Food Corp., Associated Wholesale Grocers, White Rose, and Green Hills.
Among the features on the agenda are a series of concurrent closed-door retail-vendor industry council meetings to launch the summit, and a special pre-summit IT-only lunch meeting.
Sponsors of the summit so far include afterBOT, Epson, IHL Consulting Group, Kronos, Microsoft, Retaligent, SAS, Strategic Crossroads, and Tradecard. The event is limited to 100 senior retail executives.
