FMI's Dick Bodamer Dies

Dick Bodamer, one of the founders of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), passed away on Dec. 7.  Bodamer helped build the association’s membership base and nurtured the needs of the industry.

“Bodamer, as he preferred to be called, had a commitment that supported our service mission,” said Robert Aders, president emeritus of Arlington, Va.-based FMI. “He was a true friend of the industry and he did a tremendous job strengthening FMI’s membership.”

Bodamer (pictured left) was hired by FMI in February of 1977 and served the association for 13 years. After leaving FMI, he moved on to consult for his own firm, R.J. Bodamer and Associates, where he advised companies including IGA, DemandTec and Coinstar.

Bodamer was 72 years old and is survived by his sons William and Michael.
