Food Lion Names V.P. of Bottom Dollar Food and V.P. of Government Relations

SALISBURY, N.C. - Food Lion LLC, a subsidiary of the Delhaize Group, said on Friday it has promoted Paul LaCroix to v.p. of its fast-growing, low-price concept, Bottom Dollar Food. In a separate appointment, Teross Young will serve as Food Lion's v.p. of government relations. Both are newly created positions.

LaCroix will lead and direct the operations of Bottom Dollar Food, a chain of 18 stores in Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. Food Lion introduced the Bottom Dollar Food concept, a full-shop discount grocer providing popular national brands, fresh produce, and quality meats in a lighthearted atmosphere, in 2005. LaCroix joined Food Lion in 2000, serving most recently as v.p. of dry category management. He has also worked as director of pricing and private label, director of fresh procurement, and produce category manager. He is a supermarket industry veteran, with more than 25 years of experience.

In 2002, Progressive Grocer magazine named LaCroix a best produce buyer in America.

Food Lion has also named Teross Young v.p. of government relations. Young will lead all government affairs work for Food Lion and its multiple store banners.

Young will monitor, analyze, and communicate current and emerging public policy issues at the federal, state, and local government levels that impact the operations, business performance, competitive position, and business strategy of Food Lion. He will work and communicate with elected officials at local, state, and national levels on issues and public policy initiatives. He reports to Linn Evans, s.v.p. of legal affairs and general counsel.

Young has been with Food Lion for more than 14 years. He has served the company as director of government relations, government relations manager, regional human resource manager, employee assistance program manager, and diversity manager.

Young represents Food Lion on a number of national and state-level retail and food industry associations. Among these, he chairs the Food Marketing Institute's government relations committee, chairs the board of directors of the South Carolina Retail Association, and is chairman of the board of the Virginia Retail Merchants Association.

He also serves on the boards of directors of the Delaware Food Industry Council, Georgia Food Industry Council, the North Carolina Agribusiness Council, and the North Carolina Business Committee for Education.
