Fresh Food Among Highlights of Target’s First Manhattan Store

Target will open its first store on the island of Manhattan this month, with a grand opening scheduled in East Harlem on July 25.

With more space devoted to fresh food, everyday essentials and home basics geared for apartment living, the new East Harlem Target store will feature the Minneapolis-based retailer’s PFresh expanded food format offering fresh packaged produce, meats and baked goods.

In celebration of the Manhattan debut, Target is launching the Harlem Designer Collections in key stores, predominately on the East Coast, and on Target.com beginning Aug. 1. The diverse partnership features designs from notables Isabel and Ruben Toledo, renowned designer Stephen Burrows, and chef extraordinaire Marcus Samuelsson. The Marcus Samuelsson for Target collection offers a range of aprons, placemats, kitchen towels, potholders and napkins.

Target has tailored the store’s merchandise assortment to include a generous selection of multicultural offerings, as well as a large assortment of apartment-appropriate items such as storage solutions, pillows and airbeds. Local customers will receive customized advertising related to these offerings throughout the year.

Target Corp. operates 1,740 stores in 49 states nationwide.
