The Fresh Market Helps Juvenile Diabetes Foundation with Annual Event
Greensboro, N.C.-based The Fresh Market will hold its annual Hope Floats Sidewalk Sale on Friday, Sept. 12 through Saturday, Sept. 14 to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Each of The Fresh Market's 80 stores in 18 states will offer root beer floats, hot dogs and gourmet cookies in exchange for a donation to JDRF.
"This event brings communities together each year to increase awareness and raise critically needed funds for research of type 1, often called juvenile diabetes," said Ray Berry, founder of The Fresh Market. "This is a cause our company has championed for many years and we are excited to see the local stores embracing the cause in their neighborhoods."
Last year, The Fresh Market raised over $254,000; the goal for 2008 is $300,000. Customers at The Fresh Market will also be able to donate to JDRF at checkout by purchasing a paper sneaker in the company's "JDRF Sneaker Sale" campaign, beginning Aug. 29 and running through Sept. 14. Containers will be placed at checkout to collect change for the foundation.
