The Fresh Market Opens 100th Store
The Fresh Market reached a corporate milestone last week with the grand opening of its 100th store, in St. Petersburg, Fla. The location is also the Greensboro, N.C.-based specialty grocer’s 24th in the Sunshine State.
With offerings similar to those of its predecessors in other markets, the approximately 22,000-square-foot store features an on-site bakery that turns out 30 breads and 14 pie varieties every day, a full-service meat counter with freshly ground beef, a broad assortment of ready-to-serve entrees, fresh seafood delivered several times a week, more than 200 imported and domestic cheeses, and a produce department packed with more than 400 items, many of them organic. Additional amenities include a full selection of wine and beer, specialty grocery items, and bulk coffee, candy and snacks.
"Exceeding our customers' expectations continues to be our goal, and our dedication to delighting our shoppers with extraordinary food quality and unparalleled service will continue to be our passion," declared Craig Carlock, president and CEO, at the time of the store’s Oct. 13 opening.
Founded in 1982, The Fresh Market operates stores in 20 states across the Southeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, with plans for continued expansion throughout the United States.
