Giant-Landover Gives Families 5% off Groceries When They Fill 5 Scripts
Giant Food, LLC said it has launched a new pharmacy program that aims to help shoppers lower their grocery bills when they fill prescriptions at Giant Pharmacies.
As of July 18, Giant Food customers receive a receipt coupon good for 5 percent off their next grocery order whenever they buy five prescriptions with their Giant BonusCard. There's no limit to the number of coupons customers can earn, the chain said.
The program, which is only at Landover, Md.-based Giant Food, will run for at least eight weeks, company spokesman Jamie Miller told Progressive Grocer.
"Our new pharmacy program offers our customers a great opportunity to save on their grocery bills, which is very important during these difficult economic times," noted Giant Food consumer advisor Andrea Astrachan. "The more our customers fill their prescriptions at a Giant Pharmacy, the more they can save on their grocery purchases."
The program doesn't apply to government-funded prescriptions such as Medicaid and Medicare.
Shoppers can additionally save on prescription medications through Giant's generic drug program, which allows consumers to buy 350 of the most commonly prescribed generic medications for just $9.99 for up to a 90-day supply.
Giant also recently slashed prices on over 5,000 popular HBC items.
Giant Food operates 182 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, and employs about 21,000 associates. Included within the 182 stores are 164 full-service pharmacies.
