Glen's Markets Adds Discounted Generic Drug Program
All Glen’s Markets pharmacies serving communities throughout northern Michigan are now offering a generic drug program of 30-day prescriptions for $4 and 90-day prescriptions for $10. The program offers lower prices on over 300 generic drugs.
“Our expanded generic drug program is another example of the many ways we are making it easier for customers to stretch their food, health care and household dollars,” said Alan Hartline, EVP/merchandising of Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spartan Stores, which operates the Glen’s Markets banner.
Hartline said the program -- introduced in November 2008 at Glen’s Market’s Cheboygan, Mich., location -- has proved to be both popular and successful with customers as a complement to several other initiatives Glen’s offers to help shoppers stretch their food, fuel, health care and household budgets while preventing illnesses and offering education about healthy lifestyles.
Before broadening the program to all 13 Glen’s Markets pharmacies, the program was introduced in Gaylord (March 2009) and Kalkaska (May 2009) to coincide with the grand re-openings of both stores following extensive remodels.
The generic drug program covers medications for such conditions as allergies, anxiety, asthma, cancer, high cholesterol, cough/colds, diabetes, glaucoma, gout, heart disease, high blood pressure, hormonal imbalances, Parkinson’s disease and urinary tract infections.
Glen’s Markets has 34 locations throughout northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
