GMA Names New Prez and CEO

Conant, president and c.e.o. of Campbell Soup Co., and chairman of the board of trade organization. "Pam's extensive experience in government service, bipartisan approach to public policy, success as a trade association leader, and her strong credentials in the consumer packaged goods industry made her an obvious choice to position GMA to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."
Colleagues outside of GMA were equally enthusiastic about Bailey's hiring. "Pam is an excellent selection for this important position," said Leslie Sarasin, president and c.e.o. of The Food Marketing Institute, which often works with GMA on industry issues. "She brings vision and leadership to the industry at this critical time."
Bailey has headed PCPC since 2005. During her tenure she employed strategic and organizational means to shift the direction of the association, put in place the industry's first-ever Consumer Commitment Code, and bolstered the association's advocacy and communications capabilities. PCPC's member companies manufacture such products as sunscreen, toothpaste, shampoo, moisturizer, lipstick and fragrances.
Before joining PCPC, Bailey was president and c.e.o. of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), where she worked for significant FDA and Medicare payment reform. Additionally, she was the founding c.e.o. and president of the Healthcare Leadership Council, a c.e.o.-led organization with the aim with reforming U.S. health care policies.
Her extensive experience in the public sector includes a stint at the Reagan White House as head of the Office of Communications Planning and also as special assistant to the president and deputy director in the Office of Public Affairs. She was additionally the assistant secretary of public affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and advised presidents Ford and Nixon.
As well as her many other accomplishments, Bailey is a former director of Albertson's, Inc.
