GMA Nutrition Expert Honored by American Dietetic Association
The American Dietetic Association (ADA) yesterday honored Robert Earl, v.p. of science policy, nutrition, and health at the Grocery Manufacturers Association with a Medallion Award in recognition of his service and leadership to the trade industry and the dietetics profession.
ADA bestowed the award at its Annual Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo in Chicago.
Earl, a registered dietitian and member of the ADA, American Public Health Association, and Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), received the honor for his expertise, service, and leadership in the development and execution of nutrition science and policy programs and regulatory strategies in the health and nutrition industry.
“The continual development of solid nutrition and health policy is a top priority of the Grocery Manufacturers Association, our member companies, and the food and beverage industry,” noted Earl.
As well as acting as a nutrition spokesman and advocate at GMA, Earl is a member and speaker of ADA's House of Delegates, a member of the Dietetics Education and Restaurant Labeling task forces, chair of the Nutrition Policy task force, the Association Positions and Member Value committees, and co-chair of the Legislation and Public Policy Committee.
Given annually since 1976, Medallion Awards honor ADA members who have shown dedication to the dietetics profession through active participation, leadership and devotion to serving others in dietetics and allied health fields. Earl is one of eight recipients of the award this year.
