Go Organic! Campaign Gears Up for Earth Day
Back for the fourth time, the annual Go Organic! for Earth Day campaign is bigger than ever, organizers say. This April, more than 3,500 grocery stores and 20 leading organic manufacturers will jointly encourage consumers to try more organic products. The campaign is a project of the Organic Trade Association, Earth Day Network, and MusicMatters. Progressive Grocer has covered the effort since its inception.
Participating retailers will have access to special promotions, organic product sampling, and money-saving coupons. New program elements this year include a flexible floorstand display; higher-impact point-of-sale materials such as shelf danglers and static clings; several consumer contests; and chef spokeswoman Domenica Catelli, author of the hit cookbook "Mom-a-licious: Fresh, Fast, Family Food for the Hot Mama in You!"
According to SPINS, during the 2007 campaign period, retailers that sold Go Organic!-sponsored products generated increased sales -- a 10.6-fold increase -- compared with retailers that didn't participate in the program.
