Golub's Price Chopper Celebrates 75 Years in Business
SCHENECTADY, N.Y -- In honor of its 75th anniversary, Price Chopper here is rolling out a raft of special promotions.
The chain said it is merchandising products at special 75th Anniversary prices throughout the store. It is also staging a sweepstakes for AdvantEdge Card loyalty card customers who can win up to $7,500.
In addition, Price Chopper's Pantry Patrol will travel to select shoppers' houses, and customers can win $750 by showing their AdvantEdge cards, plus $75 for each Price Chopper or Central Market Classics product found in the pantry.
Additionally, customers can help Price Chopper battle breast cancer by buying the specially marked packages of retailer's private label items. For each one purchased, five cents will be donated to the cause. Partial proceeds from the sales of the 75th Anniversary Spectacular Spray Rose Bunch will also be donated to fight the disease.
In another anniversary-linked initiative, shoppers who buy the 75th Anniversary Stainless Steel Travel Mug for $6.99 can get it filled with coffee every time they bring it into the store for only 32 cents, until the end of the year. After that, refills will go up to 75 cents. The stores will offer free coffee and cake in bakery departments on the weekends of Oct. 20-Oct. 21, and Nov. 10-Nov. 11.
Price Chopper v.p., public relations and consumer services Mona Golub told Progressive Grocer that the chain would shortly be introducing additional promotions related to the anniversary, but declined to give specifics.
