Guiding Stars Licensing Co. Names Managing Director
Guiding Stars Licensing Co. (GSLC) has hired Betts FitzGerald, a licensing industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, to be its managing director. She is the latest member of GSLC's senior leadership team, which also consists of John Eldredge, director of brand & business development; Chip LeBlanc, director of operations; and Jim McBride, director of information & systems.
FitzGerald's most recent position was VP, licensing and marketing at 4 Kids Entertainment, where she worked on several national brands. Before that, she was VP, licensing at American Greetings, where she oversaw new business development, and SVP, brand management at Lisa Marks Associates, where she was responsible for licensing, marketing and brand development.
FitzGerald previously spent over 25 years at The Jim Henson Co., where she was involved in the licensing of the Muppets, Fraggle Rock and Bear in the Big Blue House.
"Guiding Stars is a ground-breaking nutrition navigation program with tremendous potential to impact and resonate with consumers of all ages in their ongoing quest for healthy living," said FitzGerald. "Additionally, it has the opportunity to make an even broader public impact."
Scarborough, Maine-based GSLC creates opportunities for supermarkets, manufacturers, foodservice providers and other organizations to license the nutrition-rating program originally debuted by Delhaize USA-owned Hannaford Supermarkets in 2006.
The program is now in place at over 1,400 East Coast Delhaize-owned supermarkets under the Food Lion, Hannaford and Sweetbay banners, and recently rolled out at a school district in Maine.
