Harris Teeter Expands Naturals Line With Corn-based Drink Cups
MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Regional retailer Harris Teeter here is expanding its Naturals private label line of organic and ecological-friendly products with 100 percent corn-based cold drink cups manufactured by Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Fabri-Kal Corp.
The cups, made from American-grown corn, are environmentally sustainable and fully compostable in commercial facilities. They're available in two packaging configurations of 20 and 50 cups.
With health, well-being, and the environment in mind, Harris Teeter Naturals have been a success since the private label brand was introduced in 2002.
Fabri-Kal Corp. claims to be one of the largest converters of the corn-based material, Poly Lactic Acid (PLA), used in the creation of the cups. Fabri-Kal's partner, Natureworks LLC of Minnetonka, Minn., exclusively produces PLA.
Harris Teeter, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ruddick Corp., operates 145 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida.
