Harris Teeter Launches Donation Card Program
Harris Teeter has kicked off its latest donation card campaign, in support of United Way. From Aug. 13 through Sept. 12, customers at every Harris Teeter store can make $1, $3 or $5 donations to the nonprofit organization at checkout.
Similar community-based donation card campaigns run by Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter have raised almost $600,000 in a month, and in 2013, the Southeast grocer's customers donated more than $520,000 to local United Way chapters.
Declaring the company to be "thankful for both the involvement of its associates and its customers," Harris Teeter Communication Manager Catherine Becker added, "Our customers are also extremely generous, and our goal during this campaign is to not only raise money for United Way, but to also increase awareness of the nonprofit's role in raising funds for its local nonprofit partner agencies."
Funds donated to United Way at checkout will go to the chapter that's closest to the store at which the money was raised.
A wholly owned subsidary of the Kroger Co., Harris Teeter operates 220 stores and one fuel center in eight states and the District of Columbia.
