Hershey to Develop 3D-Printed Edible Foods
The Hershey Company aims to develop 3D-printed edible foods, including confectionery products. Its manufacturing partner is 3D Systems, which brings printing technology to the effort.
“We believe that innovation is key to delivering relevant, compelling consumer experiences with our iconic brands,” said William Papa, VP and chief research and development officer of the largest producer of chocolate in North America. “Whether it’s creating a whole new form of candy or developing a new way to produce it, we embrace new technologies such as 3D printing as a way to keep moving our timeless confectionery treats into the future.”
The companies have entered into a multi-year joint development agreement, combining Hershey’s food science and manufacturing expertise with 3D’s printing technology.
