Hiller’s Helps Customers with Pediatric Health

Experts at Hiller’s Markets will help parents navigate the store to find the appropriate cereals to give babies, and the best fruits and vegetables to introduce, as well as how to prepare them.

This baby-focused food tour -- which also will highlight the retailer’s range of ready-prepared baby foods -- is part of Hiller’s Health Tours, a new community outreach program launched last month by the Southfield, Mich.-based grocer. Staffed by nutritionists, doctors, food specialists and other medical experts, the innovative initiative offers a series of free tours at various Hiller’s locations to highlight the dietary needs -- and foods to avoid -- for people at different stages of life, or who are suffering from an array of medical conditions.

“I have three sons, and I remember so well how intimidating it was trying to find the right foods to feed them when they were little, making sure they didn’t eat anything to upset their digestive systems and also making sure they got all the vital nutrients they needed,” said Jim Hiller, CEO of Hiller’s Markets. “I am so happy that we are helping our very smallest customers eat well.”

Dr. Daniel Schnaar, a local pediatrician participating in the program, said: “I can picture parents standing in front of the baby food aisle and being unsure what to reach for. When babies start solid foods, it’s a learning experience for both them and their parents.”

Hiller’s Markets are located in Ann Arbor, Berkley, Commerce Township, Northville, Plymouth, Union Lake and West Bloomfield, Mich.
