Hiller’s to Present Summer Store Samplings
This summer, Hiller’s in-store Homemade Saturday Samplings will show shoppers how to get the greatest bang for their grocery buck and make great food at the same time. The grocer’s executive chef, Peter Julian (“Chef Pete”) will preside over the free afternoon events featuring cooking and conversation.
The samplings, which are set to take place over six Saturdays and will run from June 20 through Aug. 29 at Hiller’s locations in Commerce Township, Ann Arbor and Union Lake, Mich., will showcase such items as summer salads, Michigan foods, berry desserts and handmade pizza.
“You don’t have to sacrifice quality, flavor or nutrition to save money,” said Julian. “The answer is really getting back to basics -- the more we make from scratch, the more we can save money and use quality, health-promoting ingredients. This summer, it’s my mission to empower shoppers to spend less and eat better.”
“Today, our No. 1 job at Hiller’s is to continue to provide the finest quality and service but at new low, low prices,” added CEO Jim Hiller. “[B]y focusing on healthy, delicious meals for under $10, we will all benefit, in so many ways.”
Additionally, Hiller’s Gluten-Free Food Fair will take place Aug. 15 and Aug. 16 at the West Bloomfield store, and Julian will hold a talk and tasting devoted to gluten-free Grains at the Aug. 12 Wednesday Wellness program at Orchard Mall in West Bloomfield.
Family-owned Hiller’s, based in Southfield, Mich., operates seven stores in the metro Detroit area.
