Hy-Vee Cake Decorators Ready to Ice Competition

Hy-Vee’s best cake designers from its stores in Iowa and Minnesota will compete in the regional retailer’s annual Cake Designers' Challenge on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Southbridge Mall in Mason City, Iowa.

Twenty-eight of the W. Des Moines, Iowa-based retailer's top designers are set to compete in the cake decorating showdown. The top three winners will advance to Hy-Vee’s regional contest in Des Moines.

Many of the top cake creations will be sold by silent auction after the 1 p.m. judging, proceeds of which will be donated to Mercy’s Breast Cancer Awareness Program.

With sales of more than $6.9 billion and more than 232 retail stores across eight Midwestern states, Hy-Vee ranks among the top 20 supermarket chains and the top 50 private companies in the United States.
